002 – Are you tangled?

Listen to Episode 002 of the podcast below, and don’t forget to subscribe for new content and updates.

I’m using the movie Tangled to introduce this topic of transformation and self-discovery because this movie has so many points to bring out as we all find our path in life.

Key themes from the movie:

  • What in your life is locked in a tower?
  • What do you keep hidden from the world?
  • What is being blocked in your life by false core beliefs?

In the movie Tangled, the main heroine Rapunzel is locked in a towel with the evil Mother Gothel. There she learns from a corrupt source that the world is scary, dangerous, and even treacherous. Rapunzel believes she should never leave the tower but her decision is really driven by fear and lies.

God desires for us to be able to make decisions based on truth and light but if we see from the eyes of fear it’s very challenging to be open to the opportunities that could be presented in your life.

Author and spiritual teacher Wayne Dyer once said,

“Thoroughly unprepared, we take the step into the afternoon of life. Worse still, we take this step with the false presuppositions that our truth and ideals will serve us as hither too. But we cannot live the afternoon of life according to the program of life’s morning. For what was great in the morning will be little at evening…and what in the morning was true at evening time will have become a lie.”

In the movie, Rapunzel realizes that what she learned in the “morning” of her life is actually not true. This discovery is both exciting and painful because she realizes that she is, in fact, a princess.

As she shifts her perspective and takes the “afternoon” journey of her life she also understands that she can’t move forward holding on to the lies and false traditions that are no longer serving her highest good.

As we look at discovering our highest self and our true nature, we absolutely hold on to and develop the truth and light that we are taught. However, as we grow up onto the afternoon of life and we start to shift and see what doesn’t fit anymore, we begin to face our fears, pride, ego, unbelief, and doubt.

Let’s start the shift and process of letting go of lies and false traditions that hold us back and keep our light and truth locked in a tower.

Pray and meditate about what you want to let go of in your life and experience the divinity God will open up to you.
